How to Switch Users on MacBook Air

Switching users on a MacBook Air is a simple process that allows you to easily switch between different accounts. Whether you want to share your MacBook with a family member or switch to a different user account for privacy reasons, this guide will walk you through the steps to switch users on your MacBook Air.

1. Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.

2. Select “System Preferences” from the dropdown menu.

3. In the System Preferences window, click on “Users & Groups.” This may be labeled as “Accounts” on older versions of macOS.

4. Click on the lock icon at the bottom of the window to unlock it. You will be prompted to enter your administrator password.

5. Once the lock is unlocked, click on the “+” button to add a new user or click on an existing user to edit their settings.

6. If you are adding a new user, you will be prompted to enter the user’s name, account name, and password. You can also choose to set up a mobile phone number for two-factor authentication. Click “Add” to create the new user account.

7. To switch to a different user, click on the user’s name in the list of users on the left side of the Users & Groups window. You will see a pop-up menu with options to log in as the user or log out and switch users.

8. Click on “Log Out” to switch to the selected user’s account. You will be prompted to enter the user’s password before logging in.

9. Once you have logged in as the selected user, you can access their files, applications, and settings.

10. To switch back to your own account, simply repeat steps 7 and 8, selecting your own user name from the list of users.
